Indefinite: A & An
Used for singular, countable nouns when talking about them in general, or for the first time.
- A: before consonant sounds (a car, a boy).
- An: before vowel sounds (an apple, an hour).
Definite: The
Used for specific things known to both speaker and listener, or unique things.
- "Look at the moon!" (unique)
- "I bought a book. The book is great." (already mentioned)
Zero Article ( - )
We do not use articles for:
- General plural nouns (Cats are cute).
- Abstract nouns (Love is blind).
- Names of people, languages, sports (Ali plays tennis).
Type a, an, the, or - (for no article).
1. I bought new car yesterday.
2. water is good for your health.
3. Look at moon! It's beautiful today.
4. Where is book I gave you yesterday?
