Let's learn the main categories of food!

1. Fruits & Vegetables

These grow from plants. They are very healthy!

  • Fruits: apple, banana, orange, strawberry, grape
  • Vegetables: carrot, broccoli, potato, tomato, spinach

2. Grains & Carbohydrates

These give you energy. They are often eaten with meals.

  • Examples: bread, rice, pasta, cereal, oats

3. Protein

These help build your body and make you strong.

  • Meats: chicken, beef, pork
  • Other: fish, eggs, beans, nuts, tofu

4. Dairy

These are foods made from milk. They are good for your bones.

  • Examples: milk, cheese, yogurt, butter

5. Fast Food

Food served quickly at a restaurant. Tasty but not always healthy!

  • Examples: hamburger, pizza, french fries, hot dog
